Who Are We?
Our child care has been the only full-time Center in Pollocksville since 1995. We have loved, taught, and played with a generation of children already, and we look forward to caring for your child. Our Director has been with us for almost the entire 20 years, and many of our staff have been here for around 10 years. We welcome involvement from parents, our church congregation, volunteer organizations, and interns from local schools. The Pollocksville Presbyterian Church oversees the child care center, providing support & guidance.
What Do We Do?
We care for children age 6 weeks up through age 12, from 6:30 am – 6:00pm. During the school year, some children come early to catch the school bus from here and then return for the AfterSchool program. During the summer months, our 3 – 12 year olds are involved in the Summer Program with field trips and other activities. Throughout the year, we have various programs such as our Fall Festival, Thanksgiving Family Feast, Christmas Program, Easter Egg Hunt, Graduation, and breakfast celebrations for parents and grandparents. We involve the children in service projects such as the Trike-a-Thon to support St.Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and visiting the residents of the local nursing home. Seasonal photographs are also offered for your children.
Why Child Care at Pollocksville Presbyterian?
Many events led our church to establish an after-school program in 1993, and a full-time child care program in 1995: a new Education Building, a mission- minded minister, Governor Jim Hunt’s early childhood initiative, an expressed need for child care in the community, and the belief that the church was called by God to care for children while their parents work.
The Center opened under North Carolina’s A rating, and through participation in a NC Quality Enhancement Program, quickly achieved AA rating. The Center now holds the NC Four-Star License and continues to serve the Church in mission to the community by providing the safest, kindest, and highest quality care possible, and in guiding each child to experience and respond to God’s love.
